OVERVIEW

Visit the stunning Sacred Valley, one of the most visited places in Peru, and a ‘must see’ when visiting.

The sacred Valley is a beautiful and truly fascinating area, surrounded by mountains, Inca citadels, weaving villages and colourful markets, located approximately 15km north of Cuzco (1.5 hours by car).

On this day tour you will visit the terraces of Pisac, the Urubamaba river, the fortress of Ollantaytambo and the traditional weaving town of Chinchero. You will also have a tasty lunch included and a visit to a craft market.

ITINERARY

In this extensive tour we will explore the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. 
We will pick you up from your hotel between 6:30 and 7:00 am, and then we will head to Chinchero, the ancestral town of the Incas, where we will visit the royal hacienda of Inca Tupac Yupanqui, the plaza and colonial temple.
 
After this, we will visit Moray, the Inca centre of agricultural research, with its impressive circular platforms. We will head then to the old salt mine of Maras, a visually unique and an ideal for photography. 
After this, we will enjoy a buffet lunch in the town of Urubamba. Once lunch has finished, we will make our way to the ancient citadel of Ollantaytambo, a place with an impressive fortress, unique canals, great walls and temples, all these wonderful examples of the architecture of the Incas. 
 
The last stop of the tour will be Pisac, an architectural complex with enormous finely finished stone terraces and temples, another jewel of the Inca civilization. 
At the Pisac market we will be able to admire the best of Cusco craftsmanship. 
 
We will then return to your hotel in Cusco

The Sacred Valley of the Incas or Urubamba Valley is a valley in the Andes of Peru, close to the Inca capital of Cusco and below the ancient sacred city of Machu Picchu. The valley is generally understood to include everything between Pisac and Ollantaytambo, parallel to the Urubamba River, or Vilcanota River or Wilcamayu, as this Sacred river is called when passing through the valley. It is fed by numerous rivers which descend through adjoining valleys and gorges, and contains numerous archaeological remains and villages. The valley was appreciated by the Incas due to its special geographical and climatic qualities.
