ITINERARY
We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco between 4:30 and 5:00 AM. After approximately 2 hours, we’ll arrive at a restaurant to enjoy a buffet breakfast.
Next, we’ll head to the district of Combapata, where we’ll visit the Checacupe Bridge, a hanging bridge built by the Quechua people to facilitate connections during the Inca Empire. From there, we’ll continue to the foothills of Nevado Ausangate, where the hike begins. Our guide will provide helpful tips and a walking stick to make the trek easier.
The trailhead starts at 4,800 meters (15,748 ft) above sea level. From here, we’ll enjoy a 30-minute hike to the first viewpoint at 4,900 meters (16,076 ft), where the stunning Palcoyo Rainbow Mountain begins to appear. Along the way, you’ll see beautiful rock formations and picturesque landscapes. At the summit, you can capture fantastic photos of the colorful mountain range, explore the nearby Stone Forest, and encounter local camelids such as llamas and alpacas, raised by the local communities.
After the hike, we’ll return to our transport and enjoy a buffet lunch. We’ll then head back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 5:30 PM.

RICHARD – PALCCOYO RAINBOW MOUNTAIN
“We had a private tour through Into Peru and it was an incredible experience! The company phoned our hotel the night before to confirm the pick up time. They arrived on time in the morning and were very kind and hospitable. We drove to the Rainbow Mountain and then completed the small hike with the guide giving great details about the formation of the mountains and the colours. We then ate a beautiful handmade Peruvian lunch, which was amazing before the drive back to Cusco. We were tired, very full but also very happy. A perfect tour!!”
