Visit the best sites in the city of Cusco in just 4 days! From a Cusco city tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Machu Picchu, and the Rainbow Mountain, we’ll take care of every detail so you can make the most of your time.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Cusco City Tour
12:30 pm – Hotel pick-up
We will pick you up from your hotel and begin the tour with a visit to Qoricancha, the legendary Temple of the Sun and the most important ceremonial site of the Inca Empire. Together with the Convent of Santo Domingo, this site showcases a remarkable blend of Inca and colonial architecture.
Next, we visit the Cusco Cathedral, famous for its intricately carved altars in various colonial styles and its impressive collection of paintings from the Cusco School of Art.
We then head to the impressive archaeological complex of Sacsayhuamán, one of the finest examples of Inca engineering. Here, you will admire massive stone walls perfectly fitted together and enjoy panoramic views of the city of Cusco.
The tour continues to Qenqo, an ancient ceremonial center used for religious rituals and sacrifices. Afterward, we visit Pucapucara, a former Inca military outpost that served as a control point for entry into Cusco and a resting place for travelers.
Our final stop is Tambomachay, a site believed to have been dedicated to water worship and Inca rituals.
At the end of the tour, we will transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco.
Day 2: Sacred Valley Tour
8:00 – 8:30 am – Hotel pick-up
Our first stop is Pisac, an important archaeological complex located atop a steep hill, featuring impressive agricultural terraces and finely constructed Inca temples.
We then visit the Pisac Artisan Market, one of the most famous traditional markets in Peru. Around noon, we will enjoy a buffet lunch in Urubamba.
After lunch, we continue to Ollantaytambo, a living Inca town with ancient canals, massive stone walls, and a remarkable fortress that once hosted legendary battles and religious ceremonies.
Our final stop is Chinchero, known for its beautiful colonial plaza, preserved Inca walls, and breathtaking views of agricultural fields and snow-capped peaks of the Andean mountain range.
Buffet lunch is included.
Day 3: Machu Picchu Day Tour
Hotel pick-up (time will depend on your train schedule)
We will transfer you from your hotel to the train station, where you will board the PeruRail Expedition Train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).
Upon arrival, a member of our staff will greet you and escort you to the bus station for a 30-minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu.
At the world-famous Machu Picchu, you will enjoy a professional guided tour, followed by free time to explore the site at your own pace and take photos.
In the afternoon, you will return to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have time to explore the town and have lunch before boarding the return train.
Upon arrival at the train station, our staff will transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco.
Day 4: Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) Tour
Approximately 4:00 am – Hotel pick-up
We depart early from Cusco, traveling south through small Andean villages until reaching Queshoyoni (4,326 m / 14,189 ft). Here, you will have the option to rent a horse for the hike.
From this point, we begin the scenic uphill trek of approximately 7 km (about 4 hours) toward Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain), located at over 5,000 meters above sea level. Along the way, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes and the majestic Apu Ausangate.
At the summit, you’ll have time to admire the mountain’s vibrant natural colors, created by mineral deposits. You will then enjoy a delicious lunch and a well-deserved rest.
Afterward, we hike back for approximately 3 hours to Pampachiri, where our transport will be waiting to return to Cusco (about 3 hours), arriving around 5:00 pm.
