Considered one of the best treks in the world, the Cordillera Huayhuash trek has become well-known among outdoors enthusiasts for its sheer mountain peaks, pristine glacial lakes, and encounters with traditional Andean culture.
This trek covers a length of approximately 130km (81 miles) and elevations as high as 5,490m (18,012ft), which is why this trek can be difficult and sometimes dangerous. As a result, it is recommended for experienced hikers only.
This trek will offer stunning panoramic views of mountainous landscapes at all times. Visitors will also be able to visit natural hot springs halfway along the route to relax.
You will be able to see wildlife such as the condor, more than 60 other species of birds, vicuñas (a wild relative of the alpaca) and vizcacha (a type of chinchilla resembling a rabbit). All of this makes this trek so unique and perfect for those who want to experience the Andes at its fullest.
